2021 is finally here and with it some great new hotel openings in the UK and aboard that we can all look forward to and add to our dream list for when we can travel again.

The Mayfair Townhouse, London

This curious new lifestyle hotel opened its doors on Half Moon Street in early December. Inspired by whimsical characters from Mayfair’s history this stylish home is like no other London hotel. Spread across 15 townhouses overlooking Green Park this dandy residence promises to deliver the unexpected to everyone who stays. The Dandy Bar is the dimly lit theatrical heart and soul of the hotel, a place to ‘see and be seen’. All of the 172 rooms and suites have the elegant modern traveller in mind with luxury mattresses, workstations and limited-edition artwork. They also include a complimentary minibar, perfect for a little indulgence. The Garden Suites are inspired by Cecil Beaton’s love of gardens: a conservatory with doors opens to a small, walled courtyard, an English garden in the heart of London.

Casa Céu, Portugal

Casa Céu is an adults-only guest house built in 1924 run by owners Lara and Dario. You’ll find this little hidden gem in the fishing town of Olhão in the Algarve, Portugal. A simple, chic oasis, Casa Céu is a typical house full of history which has been transformed into a very cool, contemporary 4-room boutique hotel. Experience long sun-filled days on the islands, lazy afternoons and breakfasts on the roof terrace and soak up the colourful sunset and starry skies. Breakfast is usually served on the terrace with 360-degree views across the town and dinner (if pre-booked) can be arranged.

Borough Court, Hampshire

Borough Court is one of the oldest houses in Hampshire with records going back as far as 1333.  Once a monastic property the house is at the end of a long drive and surrounded by 90 acres of grazing pasture, gardens and woodland. Privacy is the name of the game here with just two large double rooms and one twin. The rooms are comfortable (I’ve never been so tempted to steal a pillow!) and the en-suite bathrooms large and luxurious. Dogs and children are welcome.
