The chlorine-free pool at One Aldwych

The need for a retreat has never been greater..

Queen of Retreats

There’s no better tried, tested and trusted selection than the collection on Queen of Retreats. Their new website has just launched with over 80 retreats encompassing healing, painting, re-energising, yoga, detoxing, pottery and so much more..

Founder of Queen of Retreats Caroline Sylger Jones has been writing about retreating as an independent journalist for over 30 years for titles including the Times, Telegraph, Independent, Condé Nast Traveller and Tatler. A published poet with a First Class BA and MA in English, Caroline especially adores retreats that pivot on creativity and finds succour in sunshine, swimming, white tea and walking by the sea. She’s a trained Iyengar yoga teacher with a daily practice, and lives in South Devon with a treasured husband, daughter and British Blue. Suffolk resident Victoria Fuller joined the Queen team as partner in the middle of lockdown 2020, after helping to build Europe’s leading PR & Marketing business for nearly 30 years and is the proud Chair of IndigoEight, the UK communications consultancy with wellbeing and sustainability at its heart. Victoria has a daily Vedic Meditation practice, which she swears has been the best thing she ever learnt, and her new favourite retreats are those that involve solo vigils in forests. She splits her time between London and Suffolk with her family and three spaniels.

Devigarh

Possibly the most beautiful palace hotel in Rajasthan, certainly the most breathtaking. This is most definitely a destination spa with exceptional therapists and some amazing treatments, many of which you won’t have heard of before. The 90-minute Manipuri back treatment is sublime using warm oils and poultices. Treatment rooms twinkle in silver and the heated beds are covered in the softest, silkiest cotton you’ll ever feel. Book the Himalayan salt room for a private sauna, it’s a beautiful experience. After your treatment sip on your bespoke spa cocktail in the spa garden and contemplate life.

Maison Talbooth the 12-room country house hotel in Essex is counting the days until their exciting new spa extension to The Treatment Rooms at the Pool House opens. Three more fabulous rooms, spa reception and chill out area ‘poolside’ will be added to the existing three rooms in the main house doubling the size of the spa which will re-open in spring 2022. The hotel has twelve individually designed bedrooms, each different in style, decor and character. All named after English poets from Shakespeare and Keats to Newbolt and Betjeman; and there’s a copy of each poets most famous poem framed in each room. The hotel lends itself to a short break for a night or two, in fact the Dedham Vale was recently mentioned in the Telegraph as one of the top places for a ‘cheeky weekend’.
