Distance from airport - 20 minutes from Florence airport.

Ad*Astra is a charming 14-room boutique hotel just a short walk from the Ponte Vecchio and the historic centre of Florence. This very private hotel boasts a unique view of the largest private garden, The Torrigiani Garden, within a European city (though you are not free to wander around it). At the beginning of the 19th-century, the Marquis Pietro Torrigiani enlarged the garden and built a neo-Gothic tower to observe the stars. This is the inspiration behind the name AdAstra, which in Latin means “towards the stars”. The current Marquis still lives on the ground floor of the villa, while Ad*Astra covers the first and second floors, where the main hall still retains the original parquet floors, frescoed ceilings and a beautiful chandelier.

You’ll find this romantic little hidden gem in the heart of the Oltrano, an authentic area of Florence, still home to artisanal shops and craftsmen. Ad*Astra is the result of a wonderful collaboration between Architect Francesco Maestrelli and interior designers Matteo and Marco Perduca. AD*Astra is the perfect luxury hotel choice if you want to be close to the city centre of Florence but have the beauty of the countryside and gardens right on your door step.

Each of the 14 air-conditioned rooms are unique and individually styled with a magical and theatrical combination of Italian design pieces and works or art from the 60s and 70s as well as contemporary elements and lighting created by the best Florentine artisans. Expect luxury details such as massive beds, rooms with freestanding baths, mini bars, free WiFi (is there any other kind these days?), CO Bigelow products, slippers and bathrobes, espresso machine and other luxury touches. Four open directly onto the majestic panoramic terrace that surrounds the entire floor, some overlook the gorgeous garden and others look onto the quiet street of Via del Campuccio. Two of the rooms are hidden in the greenery of the surrounding park.

Squares, museums, churches, shops, cafés and restaurants are all a stone's throw from this private and characterful home away from home in the heart of Florence.
